Does drinking lots of water increase the speed of your metabolism?
Your metabolism is the rate that your body burns energy (calories) to sustain itself and function. Many things impact metabolism and hydration is one of them.
Now that doesn’t mean that drinking lots of water will make you lose weight, but most of your bodily functions take place in a liquid environment, so if you are dehydrated you will be putting stress on your bodily systems.
Hydration is only part of the metabolism boosting equation. Eating a high fibre diet, having breakfast, resistance training and eating small regular meals will help ensure your metabolism is purring along smoothly.
Your food choices also play a role in fat burning, if the body is missing any of the 50+ nutrients it needs daily to function, it struggles to survive the ordeal by activating an enzyme (lipoprotein lipase) that encourages metabolic slow down and fat storage. I encourage people to stay hydrated on a daily basis, but there is no reason to over do it.
