Footwear
Standard running shoes are good, as long as they are comfortable and made for a good deal of running.
Competitive players often wear cleats they have to be rubber plastic, no metal can be exposed.
If you go with cleats there are normally 3 types that players go for: soccer, football or baseball shoes, but when choosing a cleat consider:
- Comfort: especially if you are going to play tournaments as you might be playing 5-8hrs in a day
- Stability: ankle support is important as you change direction quickly and often, and the layout of the studs will affect stability
- Weight: depending on your strength and speed be aware that the different shoes have different weights
- Performance: take into account how the shoe is made, that will be a major factor in how long they will last
- Cushioning: very important, doesn’t matter what system you choose (gel, air), Ultimate is a fast paced game that will take a toll on your joints and if you can give your joints support from hard fields you will cut down on any pain or injury. The stiffness of the studs should be factored in to this
