A lot of netballers choose to play in running shoes (especially for indoor) because they are lighter and more cushioned than netball shoes.
Netball shoes are designed for lateral movement, and it is designed to support the foot in all directions (unlike running shoes which just supply support forward), this is crucial for the stop-start and directional changes that occur in a netball game.
Netball shoes also have a harder outsole so that they last better on asphalt/concrete courts, they will have a lower profile too that will help reduce the risk of ankle roll.
