Hat
A hat is always a good idea on the water as the sun is magnified off the water.
A baseball style hat is will do, but an all-round brim will protect you from the sun better.
Clip your hat on to your top or life-jacket with a clip-on retainer.
In cold conditions a wool or pile hat will keep you much warmer.
