Mallet
There are no rules regarding weight, size or length, they are made of hardwood and have weighted heads for balance.
The heads of the mallets are allowed to be made of any material, as long as it doesn’t give an unfair advantage. The heads also come in various shapes (round, square) and the heads are usually plastic or composite. The heads are also reinforced with chromed plated bands for strength and durability and to help stop them splitting.
The shafts are normally wood, fibreglass or composite, which needs to be weather treated as the mallets are exposed to the elements as well as hard impacts.
